On the list of World Heritage Sites by Unesco, the vision and tenacity of one man, Pierre Paul Riquet, made possible this fantastic achievement: the creation of an artificial watercourse 240 km long , thus linking the Garonne and the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean.
At the heart of the walled city of Carcassonne, is the Count's castle This masterpiece of Gallo-Roman and medieval military architecture is listed as a World Heritage site by Unesco. It is one of the largest fortified cities in Europe and among the best preserved thanks to the restoration of Viollet-le-Duc in the nineteenth century.
30 minutes from the pink city "Toulouse" and the walled city of Carcassonne, near the capital of cassoulet "Castelnaudary" and 10 minutes from the Canal du Midi, Le Cathar campsite offers an exceptional view of the lake Ganguise (400 hectares).
"Le Cathare" has a variety of accommodation, accessible to all: the campsite has pitches for tents, caravans and campers. There are chalets and mobile homes to rent.
It is possible to walk along the shores of the lake from the campsite "Le Cathar" following paths through woods, and fields. For the less intrepid there is direct access from the road.
The campsite has two Shower and Toilet blocks including a completely new one. Washing machines are available.
Our 3 star campsite "Le Cathar" in the Midi-Pyrénées region is set in a pleasant environment in the middle of the countryside, near Villefranche De Lauragais, there is everything for a real holiday with family or friends.
There are many activities to take part in. Mountain biking, hiking, horse riding, sailing, winsurfing, boat trips, food and wine tasting, exploring the caves in the area ... you will just have to choose!
I came with my husband and my two children and we had a great ten-day stay in the chalet. The accommodation was very clean and we had a wonderful welcome. Despite inclement weather, we were able to enjoy the region's beauty. A campsite that I recommend.
Wonderful vacation in a beautiful site near a lake a a preserved nature. The friendlyness of the owners was great and we enjoyed the savour of local products, I recommend the french home-made 'cassoulet! Delicious!.
Unforgettable vacation! Warm owners, very available. The shaded campsite, a few steps from the lake, quiet, with well maintained toilets, green space make a huge playground for children. Do not forget to taste the dishes cooked at the inn ...
